Maison MiKO
Where sustainability meets artistry
The moment you enter Electric Sheep, you're embraced by a warm glow—soft neon hues and indirect lighting emanating from cloud-like cocoon lamps, a striking creation by Maison Miko. This ethereal structure is made from over 700 discarded silkworm cocoons, meticulously sewn together, transforming waste into art. Each lamp is a masterpiece.
As you settle in, you’ll find cushions adorned with electric sheeps designed in collaboration with Chef Yoan, crafted from 20 recycled plastic bottles each. Look closer, and the walls tell their own story—tapestries of repurposed fabric, tightly stitched together, a nod to Miko’s childhood school-time craft - they subtly mirror the stains and mold of the original building, preserving history through design.
Every detail invites you to explore, touch, and connect.
when Sustainable Design elevates Artisan Craftsmanship
Founded two years ago by Pinyadapat Pholkludkunrapat, K. Miko, Maison Miko celebrates sustainable living by showcasing beautifully crafted products from independent designers, artisans, and local communities across Thailand. From natural materials to traditional knowledge, every piece in Maison Miko is a testament to artistry, heritage, and care for the planet.
Starting with handmade and carved candles from the pottery community of Ko Kret, K. Miko guided local artisans to merge traditional craftsmanship with modern design while overcoming production challenges. Maison Miko has since expanded its collection to include celadon ceramics from Chiang Mai and granite mortar stone, sourced from Tak, a region with a geographical indication, emphasising the inherent value of local resources.
Maison Miko actively supports local communities by modernising traditional designs to ensure their relevance in today’s market. For instance, the pottery artisans of Ko Kret worry about their craft disappearing with the next generation. By introducing contemporary design elements, Maison Miko aims to bridge this gap and attract a broader audience.
From Local Fairs to Global Impact
K. Miko’s journey is about uncovering hidden gems at fairs and transforming them into refined, sustainable creations. Take the cocoon lamps, each required meticulous cleaning and assembly to achieve its delicate, ethereal form. Her work not only showcases a commitment to sustainability but also highlights the artistic potential that can elevate traditional programs like OTOP (One Tambon One Product).
Maison Miko’s thoughtfully curated collections can be found in prime locations such as the Sukhothai Hotel, Central World, Central Chidlom, and soon Icon Siam in Bangkok, as well as a brand-new boutique in Hanoi.
For lovers of design, art, and sustainability, Maison Miko offers more than just products—it’s an invitation to make responsible, meaningful choices in decorating your living space. Each piece tells a story of tradition, innovation, and a deep respect for the planet.
